According to the latest news, on September 30th, during Navratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi–Meerut Rapid Rail and Meerut Metro services. He will board the Rapid Rail from Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi) to Meerut and travel till Modipuram. On his return, he will address a massive public rally at Shatabdi Nagar. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also accompany him.
Opening Date of Begumpul, Shatabdi Nagar and Modipuram RRTS Station
The 82 km long Delhi–Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor is now ready for public operations. A successful trial run had already been completed till Meerut South, and now the entire stretch will open from 30th September. According to NCRTC officials, most stations are complete, with only finishing touches left. Meerut will have four common stations for both the Rapid Rail and Metro services, allowing passengers to access both services from these stations.

Meerut Metro Corridor
The Meerut Metro corridor is 23 km long, out of which 18 km is elevated and 5 km underground. It will have 13 stations:
- Meerut South (Elevated)
- Partapur (Elevated)
- Rithani (Elevated)

- Brahmpuri (Elevated)
- Meerut Central (Underground)
- Bhainsali (Underground)
- Begumpul (Underground)

Passenger Facilities
- Shatabdinagar station will provide parking for 800 vehicles and multiple entry/exit points.
- Meerut South, Begumpul, and Modipuram stations are also nearly complete for operations.
Tight Security Arrangements
In view of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister’s visit, security agencies have been put on high alert. Police and LIU teams conducted door-to-door verification in Partapur, Rithani and nearby areas. Details of tenants and outsiders were recorded. ADG Bhanu Bhaskar reviewed preparations and issued strict instructions for zero lapses.

The Rapid Rail and Metro are nothing less than a dream come true for the people of Meerut. With lakhs of daily commuters between Delhi and Meerut, these projects will ease traffic congestion and provide a faster, safer, and more comfortable travel option. It marks a historic step in Meerut’s journey towards modern urban transport. The public rally at Shatabdinagar holds strong political value as well. This is the same venue where PM Modi launched his 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign.
