Namo Bharat, India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail, has set a new milestone during the festive season. The service carried a record 81,550 passengers in a single day, reflecting the growing trust and popularity of this modern, safe, and efficient mode of transport.
Operating along the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor, the Namo Bharat train continues to provide passengers with a fast, comfortable, and reliable travel experience. When the additional 13 km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Sahibabad was inaugurated in January, the average daily ridership stood at around 35,000–37,000, which has now increased to nearly 55,000 commuters per day.
As per the Dainik Jagran Reports, since its launch in October 2023, Namo Bharat has completed over 17.6 million commuter trips. On the occasion of Bhai Dooj, the ridership crossed the 60,000 mark, showcasing the growing popularity and trust among daily travellers.
Festive Travel Made Easier and Faster
During the festive season from Diwali to Chhath Puja, the Namo Bharat train has emerged as the preferred mode of travel for thousands of commuters across the region. Operating along the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor, India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail has transformed the way people travel, offering a fast, safe, and comfortable alternative during the festive rush. Diwali, one of India’s most celebrated festivals, marks the beginning of a joyous series of festivities, including Bhai Dooj and Govardhan Puja, when families and friends travel long distances to celebrate together in happiness and unity.
During Chhath Puja, stations such as Muradnagar, located within walking distance of the Ganga Canal, and Meerut South, situated near the Gagol Teerth, provided pilgrims with a smooth, convenient, and hassle-free travel experience to these sacred sites. Journeys that once took hours by road are now completed in just minutes with Namo Bharat, turning what used to be a tiring and stressful trip into a pleasant and reliable experience.
