Namo Bharat is part of India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, being developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) — a joint venture of the Government of India and the State Governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
In the first phase, NCRTC has planned three priority RRTS corridors:
- Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut
- Delhi – Gurugram – SNB – Alwar
- Delhi – Panipat – Karnal
Currently, the Namo Bharat Train is operational on a 55 km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South on the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor. The other two corridors of Phase 1 are under various stages of implementation and DPR (Detailed Project Report) preparation.
In future phases, additional RRTS corridors are proposed to expand connectivity across the NCR region, including:
- Delhi – Faridabad – Ballabgarh – Palwal
- Ghaziabad – Khurja
- Delhi – Bahadurgarh – Rohtak
- Ghaziabad – Hapur
- Delhi – Shahdara – Baraut
Namo Bharat Delhi to Meerut
Under the first phase of NCRTC’s RRTS development, the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor serves as one of the flagship and most advanced routes. The Namo Bharat train operates on this corridor, and the same modern trainsets are planned to be deployed on other proposed Namo Bharat routes in the future.
The Namo Bharat train was first introduced on 20 October 2023, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sahibabad–Duhai Depot section of the corridor.At present, the train operates between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, covering a total distance of 55 km.

- 6 March 2024 – Extension: Duhai Depot to Modinagar North
- 18 August 2024 – Extension: Modinagar North to Meerut South

By the end of 2025, the entire Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor is expected to be fully operational, pending final approvals from NCRTC.

Namo Bharat Ticket Booking
The Namo Bharat Train offers two categories of travel — Standard Coach and Premium Coach. While the Standard Coach caters to regular commuters, the Premium Coach provides enhanced comfort and additional amenities, making it ideal for those seeking a superior travel experience. Naturally, the fare for Premium Coaches is slightly higher compared to Standard ones.
Ticket prices on the Namo Bharat range from ₹20 to ₹180, depending on the travel distance and coach type. Passengers can make payments through multiple modes, including Smart Cards for quick, contactless access. The fare structure is considered reasonable, given the comfort, convenience, and speed the service offers.
Commuters can also use the Namo Bharat Prepaid Card or National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), similar to the Delhi Metro Smart Card. With this card, there’s no need to buy a separate ticket — simply tap in at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate to start your journey and tap out at your destination. This makes travel quick, cashless, and completely hassle-free.
Online
You can conveniently book Namo Bharat Train tickets online using the Namo Bharat Connect App. To begin, download and install the app if you haven’t already. Open the app and select “Plan Your Journey” on the home screen, then choose Namo Bharat as your travel option. Next, enter your departure and destination stations, followed by selecting your preferred coach type — either Standard or Premium. You can book tickets for up to six passengers in a single transaction. After reviewing your journey details, proceed to make the payment through any of the available options to confirm your booking.

You can also book Namo Bharat Train tickets offline through two convenient methods — Ticket Counters and Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) available at all RRTS stations. At the ticket counters, passengers can share their journey details, such as departure and destination stations, and make payments using cash, card, or digital methods to receive a printed ticket or smart card. Alternatively, commuters can use the TVMs for a quicker, self-service experience. Simply select your stations, pay using cash, card, or UPI, and collect your paper or QR-based ticket. These offline options ensure easy access for passengers who prefer traditional ticketing methods.
Namo Bharat App
The Namo Bharat Connect App, developed by NCRTC, is the official platform for online RRTS ticket booking, available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app supports Hindi and English, offers a seamless booking experience, and features “One-Tap Ticketing” for quick QR code generation within 300 meters of a station. The Namo Bharat Connect App, available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, offers a comprehensive digital experience for Namo Bharat passengers. With over 1 lakh downloads, a 4.6-star rating on Android, and a 4.7-star rating on iOS, the app supports both Hindi and English.
It allows passengers to book tickets, view transactions, earn loyalty points, and plan trips easily. Additionally, it provides access to the RRTS network map, real-time train tracking, fare calculator, parking updates, and station navigation. The app also features feeder bus details, Lost & Found services, complaint reporting, and station facility information, making it a one-stop platform for a smooth and connected travel experience.
