Jangpura Namo Bharat Station is poised to become one of the most significant transit points in South Delhi. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has extended the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, which was earlier planned to start from Sarai Kale Khan, up to Jangpura. This strategic extension will enhance last-mile connectivity for thousands of daily commuters from South Delhi and neighbouring areas.

About Jangpura Namo Bharat Station
Initially, the Delhi stretch of the RRTS corridor included only three stations — Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar — with Jangpura identified merely as a stabling yard and maintenance facility. However, recognising the location’s strategic importance, NCRTC decided to develop it into a full-fledged station. In addition to the passenger station, Jangpura will also host key operational infrastructure, including a stabling yard for train maintenance, an Operational Control Centre (OCC) for real-time monitoring and management of all three RRTS corridors — Delhi–Meerut, Delhi–Gurugram–SNB, and Delhi–Panipat — as well as office complexes and residential towers for staff and operations.
To ensure smooth accessibility, Jangpura Namo Bharat Station is being connected directly to Mathura Road through a newly constructed four-lane connecting road built by NCRTC. This road link will make it easier for residents of nearby areas such as Ashram, Maharani Bagh, Nizamuddin, and Jangpura to reach the station quickly and conveniently, avoiding the usual traffic congestion of South Delhi.
Once operational, Jangpura Namo Bharat Station will offer a seamless travel experience, linking Delhi’s prominent localities like Lajpat Nagar, Nizamuddin, AIIMS, and Safdarjung Hospital with cities such as Meerut and Ghaziabad. What currently takes around two hours to travel — for instance, from Meerut to AIIMS — will soon be achievable in nearly an hour. This development is expected to significantly enhance regional mobility, reduce travel time, and strengthen Delhi’s public transport network.
