Single-Point Security at New Ashok Nagar to Eliminate Double Checks Between Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro

In a landmark move focused on commuter convenience, single-point security checking has been operationalised for passengers interchanging between Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro at New Ashok Nagar. This initiative marks a significant leap forward in creating a smoother, faster and more reliable urban travel experience.

Commuters interchanging between the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station and the adjoining New Ashok Nagar Metro Station on the Blue Line will now undergo security screening only once. Delhi Metro passengers travelling onward towards Meerut via Namo Bharat will no longer be subjected to a second frisking upon arrival at the Namo Bharat station. Likewise, Namo Bharat commuters heading towards Noida will not need to undergo another security check at the metro station.

This seamless interchange has been enabled through the operational Foot Over Bridge (FOB) connecting the two stations, along with the creation of a new security checkpoint at Gate No. 2 of the Metro station. Together, these measures eliminate redundant checks and streamline passenger movement between the two networks.

Reducing Delays, Eliminating Hassle

For daily commuters, repeated security checks often result in long queues, increased waiting times and unnecessary inconvenience—especially during peak hours. These delays not only extend overall travel time but also add to commuter fatigue and uncertainty, discouraging the use of public transport.

By removing multiple security screenings, this initiative directly addresses one of the most persistent commuter pain points. The result is significant time savings, reduced congestion, and a hassle-free interchange experience. Speed has always been a core principle of the Namo Bharat system, which enables travel between Delhi and Meerut in under an hour, and this measure further reinforces that commitment.

A Game-Changer in Urban Transport Evolution

The introduction of single-point security checking represents an important shift in how urban transport systems are being designed and operated—placing commuter needs firmly at the center. Simplified interchange procedures ensure journeys that are smoother, faster and more predictable, making public transport a more attractive and practical choice for everyday travel.

This initiative reflects a broader evolution where transport systems are no longer operating in silos but are being aligned to function as an integrated mobility ecosystem.

Enhanced Interchange Infrastructure at Ghaziabad

Further strengthening multi-modal connectivity, a dedicated Foot Over Bridge has also been operationalized at Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station, providing direct access to Delhi Metro’s Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station.

The FOB, measuring approximately 300 metres in length and 6.5 metres in width, connects the lower Property Development (PD) level of the Namo Bharat station with the concourse level of the metro station. This ensures safe, smooth and time-efficient movement for commuters transferring between the two systems.

In the future, travellators will be installed on this FOB to further enhance commuter comfort. Given that Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station is located in a densely populated urban area, close to the city’s main bus terminal and key residential, commercial and institutional zones, seamless interchange infrastructure is critical to managing high daily footfall.

Digital Integration for End-to-End Convenience

This development is part of NCRTC’s broader strategy to deliver seamless, end-to-end travel experiences. Earlier, integrated QR-based ticketing with Delhi Metro was introduced, allowing commuters to book tickets through the mobile applications of either system. This digital integration has eliminated the need for standing in queues or navigating multiple platforms, further simplifying the travel experience.

Advancing Multi-Modal, Future-Ready Mobility

These initiatives underscore the Multi-Modal Integration approach, a core focus of the Namo Bharat project. As cities grow and commuting patterns become more complex, such integration plays a vital role in improving convenience, encouraging public transport usage, and reducing dependence on private vehicles.

The single-point security initiative also highlights a forward-looking planning philosophy—where infrastructure, operations and commuter movement are designed together to ensure continuity in journeys rather than friction at transfer points. As public transport networks continue to expand, such coordinated measures will be essential in delivering future-ready, commuter-first mobility solutions that are faster, simpler and more reliable.
