Modipuram Station in Final Stage, Operations to Begin Soon

The dream of travelling on the rapid train from Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut’s Modipuram is now close to reality. Currently, people from Meerut still rely on local transportation to reach Delhi from Meerut South. India’s first high-tech rapid rail project, connecting Delhi and Meerut, has reached its final stage. Currently, services are operational between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, with thousands of passengers using the train daily. Now, the construction of Modipuram station, the final stop on the route, is almost complete, and operations are expected to begin soon.

Modipuram will serve as the last major station of the Meerut Rapid Rail and Metro corridor. Beyond this lies only the depot track. This makes the station not only crucial for the people of Meerut but also commuters from surrounding regions, especially Muzaffarnagar. From here, passengers will get a fast, safe, and comfortable travel option to Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.

Future Expansion Towards Muzaffarnagar

After Modipuram, the rail track splits into two sections—one leading to the depot and the other ending temporarily. Experts suggest that if the rapid rail is extended towards Muzaffarnagar in the future, construction will continue from this point. Hence, Modipuram is also seen as a potential link for future expansion.

According to the Namo Bharat management, all stations have been designed with modern technology and passenger needs in mind. At Modipuram station, facilities such as wheelchair access, lifts, and special restrooms for differently-abled passengers will be available. First-aid and emergency services have also been ensured for passenger safety.

Unique Station Design

The station’s design is also noteworthy. Platforms will be located on the second floor, while the first floor will house ticket counters and other passenger amenities. Both automated ticket vending machines and manual counters will be available, providing convenience and flexibility to travelers.

A New Boost for Meerut’s Development

With the opening of this final station, travel between Meerut and Delhi will become smoother and faster. Students, professionals, and traders commuting daily will benefit directly. The Modipuram station will also enhance connectivity for northern Meerut and Muzaffarnagar. This project is not just set to transform the face of Meerut but will also become a milestone in providing high-speed connectivity between Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.
