🚆 NCRTC Sets Up Police Post at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station to Strengthen Passenger Safety

Commuter safety has always been a top priority for the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). Taking another significant step in this direction, NCRTC has established a new police post near the Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station. The facility has been formally handed over to the Delhi Police and is aimed at further enhancing the sense of security for all Namo Bharat passengers.

Located conveniently near Gate No. 2, the police post will enable commuters to easily lodge complaints and seek help in case of any unlawful activity or emergency during their journey on the Namo Bharat corridor. The post will operate under the jurisdiction of the Patparganj Industrial Area Police Station, ensuring timely response and on-ground support for passengers.

Strengthening On-Ground Security for Commuters

Thousands of passengers, including a large number of women, travel through the Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station every day. This newly established police post will serve as an important addition to NCRTC’s existing safety infrastructure, allowing passengers to report incidents promptly and access immediate police assistance whenever required.

Namo Bharat train services operate from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering commuters a safe, comfortable, and reliable mode of travel across the region. NCRTC is also constructing similar police posts along the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, including those at New Ashok Nagar, Guldhar, and Duhai stations, which are currently under development. Police posts near Sahibabad and Ghaziabad stations have already been completed and are fully operational.

These outposts function under local police jurisdictions — Sahibabad under the Link Road Police Station (Trans-Hind Zone) and Ghaziabad under the Nagar Zone (Ghaziabad) — enabling commuters to register complaints related to incidents at stations or while travelling on Namo Bharat services.

Beyond these measures, NCRTC has implemented a multi-layered security system across all its stations and trains. Every Namo Bharat station and train is equipped with CCTV cameras, monitored 24Ă—7 from a centralized Security Control Centre (SCC). Each station also has a dedicated police room, and surveillance teams coordinate closely with local law enforcement for rapid response. In addition, door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) are installed at entry gates, ensuring thorough screening and a secure environment for every passenger.

At present, a 55-km section of the 82-km Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South is operational, serving thousands of commuters daily through 11 stations. The remaining section is expected to be commissioned soon, further expanding safe and efficient rapid rail connectivity across the region.
